Some Ramblings About Christmas

I had a chance to listen to the First Presidency Christmas Devotional (on lds.org, look right in the middle of the opening page for a link).

It was pointed out that Jesus, Lord of Lord and King of Kings, didn't come to a mansion, but rather to a stable. The angels didn't announce his birth to the wealthy, but rather to the shepherds on the hill.
I was thinking about this, and I am sure others have also--how Joseph was a step-parent and Mary an unwed mother.

Also a part of the devotional, stories were told of simple acts of love that brought happiness to both the giver and the receiver and we were reminded to make room in our lives for Jesus so we didn't have spend the rest of our lives in regret for what we might have done. Traditions were shared.

A tradition I would like to start is to watch "The Nativity" at some point every year. I love that movie. It was so beautifully done. I haven't seen it in the stores as much this Christmas, but it seemed to be everywhere I turned around last year. Kind of odd. Either it sold out early or it didn't sell much at all so it didn't make the rounds again this year. I'm kind of curious about that.

Three of my sons are coming home for Christmas this year. I miss them so much! Even Franklin is counting down the days until they get here instead of counting the days to Christmas.
